Police believe there are "strong links" between the unsolved murders of seven young Scottish women.
The cases, which cover a period from August 1977 to March 1980, span the areas covered by three police forces.
Officers said advances in DNA have given them access to evidence not previously available.
Twenty-year-old Anna Kenny was last seen alive as she left the Hurdy Gurdy bar in Townhead, Glasgow, on 6 August, 1977.
Her skeleton was found nearly two years later in a shallow grave near Skipness on Kintyre.
Mother-of-two Hilda McAuley , 36, was last seen leaving a dance at the Plaza Ballroom in Glasgow alone.
Her body was found in bushes at the rear of a railway arch opposite a caravan park in Langbank, Renfrewshire, on 2 October, 1977.
The killing of 17-year-olds Helen Scott and Christine Eadie has become one of Scotland's most notorious murders.
They visited the busy World's End pub on the Royal Mile with two female friends on 15 October, 1977.
The last definite sighting of the pair came at about 2300 GMT as they were talking to two men.
They decided to stay in the pub when their friends left to attend a party on the outskirts of the city.

Two men were later seen approaching two young women of a similar appearance and offering them a lift.
However, police do not know whether it was Helen and Christine, or whether the young women accepted a lift.
The following day the teenagers' bodies were found six miles apart in East Lothian, Christine on the foreshore at Gosford Bay and Helen in a field at Haddington.
They had been beaten, raped and strangled.
Nurse Agnes Cooney was last seen at the rear door of The Cladda Club on the south side of Glasgow in December 1977.
The 23-year-old, from Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, had been waiting for a lift home from members of a country and western band who had been playing at the Irish nightspot.
Her body was later found on moorland near Caldercruix, Airdrie. She had been stabbed.
The body of 18-year-old Carol Lannen , from Dundee, was found in the city's Templeton Woods on 22 March, 1979.
Her clothing was found days later on the banks of the River Don.
The driver of a red estate car had seen acting suspiciously in the Exchange Street area of the city, close to where she was last seen alive.
The body of Elizabeth McCabe was found in Templeton Woods on 26 February, 1980 - the day before she was due to celebrate her 21st birthday.
The Dundee woman was last seen alive leaving Teazer's Disco in the city's Union Street in the early hours of 11 February.
